Ne të gjithë, në brendësi të shpirtit tonë, kemi një dëshirë a një pasion për të adhuruar e për t’i shërbyer dikujt ose diçkaje që është më i fuqishëm se ne. Disa njerëz adhurojnë objekte, disa adhurojnë një njeri, disa të tjerë adhurojnë një shëmbëlltyrë që nuk është zot por që u kujton atyre një zot që ata besojnë se ka ekzistuar në kohërat e shkuara. Megjithëse moria e këtyre njerëzve u janë përkushtuar këtyre zotave, ende në zemrat e tyre mbetet e ndezur një thirrje dhe një dëshirim. Për ta çuar më tej përkushtimin e tyre, ata ngrihen që herët në mëngjes e nderojnë zotin e tyre. Disa të tjerë kryejnë rituale të ndryshme dhe përsëri jeta e tyre nuk ndryshon. Këta njerëz arrijnë të qetësojnë vetëm në mënyrë të përkohshme thirrjen e shpirtit të tyre dhe nuk e presin me shumë kurajo të nesërmen. Të trishtuar ata fillojnë të kuptojnë që e ardhmja ka për të qenë njëlloj si e kaluara. Shpirti i tyre shpeshherë thërret, “Pse vallë zoti im nuk më ndryshon dot mua e të më japë fuqi të përballoj natyrën time mëkatare?”

Dikur nuk ekzistonte asgjë në këtë botë. As peshq. As yje në qiell. As dete a lule të bukura. Gjithçka ishte e zbrazët dhe e errët. Por ekzistonte Zoti, i njëjti Zot që ne i falemi sot. Zoti kishte një plan të mrekullueshëm. Ai kishte në mendje një botë të mrekullueshme, dhe sapo e mendoi Ai e realizoi atë. Të gjithë këtë Ai e bëri nga hiçi. Kur Zoti bënte diçka, Ai vetëm sa thoshte, “Le të bëhet” dhe ajo ishte e kryer! Ai bëri dritën. Ai bëri lumenjtë dhe detet, tokën e bleruar, kafshët, zogjtë dhe pemët.

“And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. “Come, see.” These words recorded in John 4:29 were spoken by a Samaritan woman with a sense of wonderment and awe. She had just met a Man at the village well who said He was the Messiah. Something about this Man convinced her that He knew all about her although not many words were spoken. She felt his love and compassion even though she was living in sin. With a sense of urgency she hurried back to her village, her water pot forgotten. “Come,” she said, “come see and hear for yourselves.”

Everyone worships something. Some people worship objects, some worship a man, some worship an image, and others worship themselves. They reveal their devotion to their god in various ways. As the multitudes of people give their devotion to these gods, there still remains a longing and cry in their hearts. These people are able to find only a temporary relief for the cry of their souls and have little courage to face tomorrow. To their disappointment, the future is always the same as the past. The god they are serving is unable to fill the void in their lives.

Once there was nothing in this world. No fish. No stars in the sky. No seas and pretty flowers. All was empty and dark. But there was God. God had a wonderful plan. He thought of a lovely world, and while He thought, He made it. He made it all out of nothing. When God made anything, He just said, “Let it be made,” and there it was! He made light. He made the rivers and seas, the grass-covered earth, the animals, birds, and trees.
