In the beginning God created the world. He created the sun, moon and stars, the animals and plants. On the sixth day He made man in His own image and breathed into him the breath of life.
This first man was Adam and his wife's name was Eve. God provided a home for them in a beautiful garden. God loved Adam and Eve and they loved God. God instructed Adam to take care of the garden. God told them that they could eat anything they wanted, except from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and that they would die if they disobeyed.
One day an awful thing happened! Adam and Eve sinned when they disobeyed God and ate fruit from the forbidden tree. They became afraid of God and hid from Him. God knew where they were hiding. He came and called to Adam. God told him because they had disobeyed they would have to leave their beautiful garden home.
God did not forget Adam and Eve. He still loved them. He promised to send His only Son, Jesus, to this world. Jesus would die for their sin so that they could live! "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
Jesus did come! He taught that all people have sinned. Sinners must die. Jesus loved us so much that He told God that He would die for the sins of all people. He died for every person that has done wrong.
Good news—Jesus is alive! He arose from the grave! He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). Jesus wants to lead us home to His heavenly Father.
Sometimes we don't feel loved. People around us are sad, hurt or angry. Maybe we are afraid or feel a longing inside that never goes away. We wonder, who can help us, and why do we feel so alone. God placed that longing deep inside your heart because He loves you. It is a special thing that draws you to your heavenly Father. God wants to replace that longing in your heart with His love.
He wants you to pray from your heart and say, "Jesus, I need you. I am tired of my sins. Please Jesus, wash me clean and I will turn away from all these ugly things." Jesus hears your earnest plea. He washes you clean and makes you ready for that home He is preparing.
Before Jesus left this earth, He said, "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:1-2). That heavenly home is a peaceful place where there is endless joy and love.
Jesus made that home so beautiful that He will never let any ugliness or sin inside. If our hearts are stained with sin when we die, Jesus will not let us in.
What will it be like to live with Jesus? There will be no more pain, fear or hunger. No more sickness, death or sad goodbyes. There we will sing and praise God with the redeemed of all the earth.
Home at last! Home in heaven with Jesus our Savior!
